Project Overview

Dazuma brought a coordinated residential lighting solution to the project, shaping arrival, stair, kitchen, living, private, and outdoor spaces through a clear and experience-driven lighting system.

The Sonora Ridge Residence was developed as a lighting-led custom home where architecture, lifestyle, and mood needed to work together after dark. The project combines a quiet but refined arrival sequence, a dramatic double-height stair hall, a highly polished kitchen and entertaining core, a calm primary suite, and an outdoor living zone designed for evening use. Rather than treating each room as a separate fixture exercise, the lighting strategy was structured to guide the homeowner from public-facing arrival moments to more intimate living and retreat spaces. Dazuma’s role can be credibly positioned as helping coordinate those layers into a complete and visually disciplined residential system.

A hospitality-inspired residential lighting concept that gives the home stronger emotional range from arrival to retreat
A dramatic but disciplined double-height lighting composition built around feature chandeliers, stair lighting, and warm architectural surfaces
Dazuma-supported coordination of decorative, ambient, task, and exterior lighting into one coherent residential identity

From Brief to Final Installation

Project Brief

Brief

Understanding the scope, priorities, and visual direction

We begin by reviewing the project goals, site conditions, space functions, and overall design expectations. This early stage helps define the lighting direction and identify the key performance needs for the project.

Drawing & Site Review

Concept

Translating concept requirements into buildable conditions

Drawings, dimensions, ceiling conditions, and installation constraints are reviewed to align the lighting plan with the actual site. This step helps reduce coordination issues before fixtures move into final selection and placement.

Fixture Coordination

Technical

Matching fixture types, finishes, and placement to the project

Fixture specifications are coordinated according to the design intent, application requirements, and site conditions. Size, finish, light output, and mounting details are considered together to support both visual impact and practical use.

Installation Support

Installation

Supporting clean execution during the installation phase

During installation, fixture positioning, on-site conditions, and execution details are reviewed to keep the lighting plan aligned with the intended result. This stage is critical for maintaining consistency across the project.

Final Adjustment & Delivery

Result

Refining the result for visual balance and day-to-day use

After installation, the lighting is reviewed as a complete environment. Final adjustments help improve visual balance, support the intended atmosphere, and ensure the space performs well in practical use.

Front Entry & Arrival

A restrained approach sequence designed to feel private, warm, and architecturally resolved from the first step

The front entry uses low-level pathway guidance, warm sconces, and recessed soffit lighting to establish a clear and quiet threshold. Rather than making the façade overly bright, the lighting emphasizes material contrast between stone, wood, and smooth surfaces. In the U.S. luxury home market, this kind of arrival experience signals both security and design maturity.

· Support nighttime arrival
· Reinforce architectural composition
· Maintain privacy and visual calm

Double-Height Stair Hall

A dramatic vertical volume built around feature chandeliers, sculptural wall lighting, and illuminated stair movement

The stair hall is the most cinematic space in the project. The suspended chandelier composition acts as a visual centerpiece, while wall lights and stair-adjacent illumination help define the vertical plane and movement path. This is where the project most clearly differentiates itself from a standard whole-home scheme: the lighting is not merely functional here, it is spatial and architectural.

· Create a strong first interior impression
· Support safe stair circulation
· Combine sculptural lighting with warm residential comfort

Main Living Room

A warm, open gathering space designed to connect interior comfort with the outdoor terrace beyond

The main living room uses quiet recessed lighting and warm integrated accents rather than relying on a single dominant fixture. Large sliding openings preserve the visual connection to the terrace and pool area, so the lighting needed to feel balanced from both inside and outside. The result is a space that supports conversation, relaxation, and evening entertaining without visual harshness.

· Create a calm main social space
· Maintain indoor-outdoor connection
· Support comfort across multiple evening uses

Primary Bedroom Retreat

A hotel-inspired bedroom environment shaped by soft bedside layers, wall-mounted glow, and a statement decorative center

The primary suite is intentionally more intimate than the public spaces of the house. Decorative lighting above the bed, wall-mounted fixtures, and bedside lamps create layered illumination that feels restful but still visually elevated. The glazing and distant view extend the sense of retreat, while the lighting keeps the room warm, private, and softly composed.

· Support nighttime relaxation
· Create a refined but quiet bedroom atmosphere
· Use layered light instead of hard contrast

Covered Outdoor Lounge

An all-season outdoor entertaining zone designed as a true extension of the home rather than a secondary patio

The covered outdoor living area combines seating, cooking, and fireplace use within one cohesive evening environment. Soffit lighting, step lights, lantern-style accents, and fireplace glow help define the zone without making it feel overlit. This space is particularly strong because it shows the home working as a hospitality environment—comfortable enough for private family use, but polished enough for guests and long-form entertaining.

· Extend use of the home into the evening outdoors
· Support hosting, dining, and casual gathering
· Keep the atmosphere warm, layered, and low-glare

Indoor-Outdoor Residential Continuity

A full-home lighting language where interior mood and exterior atmosphere remain visually connected

What gives this project more credibility than a typical residential lighting package is the consistency between rooms and exterior zones. The bedroom, kitchen, foyer, living room, façade, and outdoor lounge all belong to the same visual system. Dazuma’s contribution can be positioned here as helping coordinate that continuity—so the residence feels like one coherent home after dark, not a series of disconnected lighting scenes.

· Unify interior and exterior identity
· Preserve warmth across all zones
· Create a stronger sense of residential completeness
