Project Overview

Dazuma supported the project with a coordinated boutique lighting solution across display, fitting, storefront, and customer-facing spaces.

Sunkiss was developed as a contemporary coastal lifestyle boutique combining resort-inspired apparel, soft home accents, and a slower, more tactile retail experience. The space needed to feel immediately welcoming from the storefront while maintaining enough visual hierarchy inside to guide customers through apparel rails, central display tables, shelving moments, and the service counter. Rather than using flat general lighting, the project was built around layered illumination that could support merchandising, mood, and brand identity at the same time. Dazuma’s contribution can be positioned around coordinating those lighting layers so the boutique feels calm, elevated, and commercially effective without becoming overlit or visually noisy.

From Brief to Final Installation

Project Brief

Brief

Understanding the scope, priorities, and visual direction

We begin by reviewing the project goals, site conditions, space functions, and overall design expectations. This early stage helps define the lighting direction and identify the key performance needs for the project.

Drawing & Site Review

Concept

Translating concept requirements into buildable conditions

Drawings, dimensions, ceiling conditions, and installation constraints are reviewed to align the lighting plan with the actual site. This step helps reduce coordination issues before fixtures move into final selection and placement.

Fixture Coordination

Technical

Matching fixture types, finishes, and placement to the project

Fixture specifications are coordinated according to the design intent, application requirements, and site conditions. Size, finish, light output, and mounting details are considered together to support both visual impact and practical use.

Exterior & Storefront

A quiet but highly recognizable façade designed to frame the boutique as a destination retail experience

The storefront uses a wide arched opening and a restrained brand presentation to create immediate architectural recognition. Rather than relying on aggressive signage or visual clutter, the store invites customers through softness, proportion, and a visible warm interior glow. From the street, the lighting helps transform the façade into a branded threshold, allowing the boutique to feel open, curated, and high touch.

· Create destination-like street presence
· Use interior glow as part of the brand identity
· Frame the entrance with architectural softness rather than heavy signage

Main Merchandising Floor

A central retail zone designed for slower browsing, layered display, and visual breathing room

The main floor is organized around freestanding display tables that allow folded goods, objects, and seasonal features to be presented with clarity and restraint. Wide circulation paths and warm overhead lighting help the room feel calm and gallery-like, giving each product grouping enough space to read. This layout reflects a more premium U.S. boutique model, where the environment is expected to elevate perceived product value rather than simply maximize inventory density.

· Encourage slower browsing
· Increase perceived product value through display spacing
· Keep the room visually calm while maintaining commercial function

Apparel Display Arches

Architectural wall niches designed to integrate clothing presentation with the store’s spatial identity

The apparel zones are built into arched wall moments that function as both architecture and merchandising structure. Warm cove lighting and track accents help separate garments from the background while preserving the soft tone of the room. Instead of treating clothing as isolated retail hardware, the design integrates display directly into the boutique’s overall architectural language, which makes the space feel more bespoke and less fixture-driven.

· Blend apparel presentation into architecture
· Use light to separate garments without harsh contrast
· Support a more elevated boutique identity

Rear Styling / Fitting Zone

A more private transition area designed for styling support, customer comfort, and slower retail interaction

Toward the rear of the boutique, the atmosphere becomes more intimate and less openly commercial. The curtained opening and softer backdrop help suggest a fitting or styling support zone where customers can move from browsing into more personal decision-making. Lighting here needed to remain warm and flattering while maintaining continuity with the main retail floor, helping the full journey feel seamless from entry to final purchase.

· Create privacy without disconnecting from the store
· Support flattering, comfortable light in customer decision zones
· Extend the boutique’s warmth deeper into the plan
